Antique sapphire and diamond ring in 18kt gold crossover setting
This was an instant love affair: an elegant 18kt gold crossover setting holding a light blue sapphire and two diamonds. The smooth luxurious band has been worked into a detailed rounded and open wave around a larger sapphire and two slightly smaller shining diamonds. The main sapphire measures about 4 mm in diameter (0.34 carat), sparkles through it's round faceted shape and the light blue color is vivid and clear. The two diamonds flanking it are about 2.2 mm in diameter each (about 0.04 carat per stone, 0.08 carats in total). The setting around the stones is a smooth bezel setting, the stones are well set and ready to last another lifetime. The ring is in beautiful vintage condition, especially considering it's age. The date hallmark is partly smudged, but we place this piece around 1900. Also hallmarked for 18kt gold and made in Chester.
