Bright marquise-cut amethyst in detailed setting

What an epic ring, this marquise-cut amethyst held in a simple, light claw setting. The stone is beautifully cut and the centerpiece to this gorgeous ring. This natural amethyst has a clear, vibrant purple color in just the right hue: not too dark, not too shallow.

The stone has no scratches, and is beautifully cut in an marquise shape, held up in a claw setting. It's a great size at about 21 mm x 10 mm, making it a whopping 5.5 carat,a true showstopper but still wearable due to its setting. The claw setting lifts the stone up to be the shining center, up on elegant slightly split at the base shoulders. Hallmarked for 18kt solid gold and with the eagle head- indicating this is a French made beauty. There is no hallmark for when it was made, but our informed guess is that this piece stems from the 70s, based on the make, model and almost perfect state of the amethyst. Crystal candy delight.
